The Pink Jalebi spirit takes the aesthetic essence from a multitude of sources – experiences and stories, personalities and mythology, pop culture and traditional art of India – and converts it into visual essays on items of everyday usage. Think of it making aesthetics and art an all-pervading aspect of our homes and lives.
As a brand that takes inspiration from India’s strong cultural identity and her new found place in the world as an emerging power. This young, dynamic, kitsch and contemporary brand is a visual reflection of this identity. By juxtaposing iconic images and people of different ages, it seeks to marry old world nostalgia and new found modernism.
Pink Jalebi launched with Sunday Soul Sante. Through the event we have done with them, we have realized that there is no better platform for upcoming designers. The crowds are terrific – most people have an evolved aesthetic sense and it’s always more fun to interact with them! It’s also a good platform to network with other designers and keep a finger on the pulse of the industry. And yet, Sante has a charm that makes it unlike my ordinary working day – the people, the atmosphere, everything is just so festive!
